News from UPAWS

The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is getting closer to our goal to build an animal shelter that can be more than just an animal shelter. It can be an animal community center. UPAWS has raised over $2.37 million and over $57,000 of our $100,000 matching gift in memory of Joan Steindler! Will you give today to double the impact of YOUR gift.

The UPAWS shelter recently announced the construction schedule for their new facility. While the organization will always be the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS), the board of directors was thrilled to announce the naming of the new building as the Philip and Ruth Spade Adoption Center.

Groundbreaking is expected to begin this summer, where a formal ceremony celebrating the Spade’s gift and the naming of the adoption center will take place. There are more naming opportunities still available- find out how you can name a portion of the center by visiting upaws.org.

The $3.7 million construction project will transform and reinvent the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter. UPAWS has spent 40 years finding homeless animals new homes but now UPAWS needs a new home. Imagine a new home for UPAWS. Imagine the PAWSibilities.

Community members are encouraged to go to upaws.org, stop by the shelter, or send check or pledge to PO Box 968, Marquette, MI 49855 and mark it for the new shelter. Give today to double the impact of your gift! Call 906-475-6661 or email ktossava@upaws.org for more information.
