Killer Whales welcome swimmers

MARQUETTE – The YMCA Killer Whales swim team will host three informational Meet the Coaches meetings from 9-10 a.m. on consecutive Saturdays starting this weekend at the YMCA pool.

At this free program, parents can meet Killer Whales coaches and ask questions about the Marquette youth swim team. Coaches can also evaluate swimmers in the pool for parents and recommend which swim team or lessons program is best suited for their child. No preregistration is required.

The Killer Whales will also host a Try-Us-Out week from Monday through Friday, Sept. 22-26. Athletes may try a one-week trial membership with the team to learn about it. Cost is $15 and preregistration at the YMCA is required.

Children ages 8 and under will try the team on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at the YMCA pool. Children ages 9 and older should attend any or all of the Monday, Wednesday or Friday sessions 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Marquette Senior High School pool or Tuesday and Thursday sessions from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the NMU pool. Enter the pools directly through locker rooms. Coaches will meet athletes and parents on the pool deck.
