Third Street River Valley Bank plans renovation
MARQUETTE – River Valley Bank is planning a renovation to its location in The Village at 1101 N. Third St.
The Marquette Planning Commission recently approved plans for a $750,000 renovation, with construction to begin Sept. 2 and scheduled to run through mid-November.
During the duration of the project, the branch will be closed and customers will be served at the bank’s 1140 W. Washington St. branch.
River Valley Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Todd Nagel said the decision to remodel the Third Street building using local contractors and materials was easy.
“The Third Street district is such an essential part of the economy in Marquette,” Nagel said in a news release. “We felt strongly about re-investing some of our capital in this market. We have seen such strong support and loyalty from the community since River Valley Bank built the West Washington location 10 years ago. We wanted to show our continued commitment to Marquette with this remodel.”
City Planner and Zoning Administrator Dave Stensaas said there will be only one public entry, and parking will be moved from the north side of the lot to alongside the building on that side. The ATM also will be relocated outside.
Nagel said the remodeling will include updating the look and feel of the building, expanding the lobby and providing an Internet cafe and free Wi-Fi for customers.
“With so much banking being done online, we want to make using our electronic banking more convenient for our customers,” Nagel said. “By offering better Internet services, we can help our customers get the most out of their banking experience.”
