Boat towed after distress call
NORTH ENTRY – The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office secured and towed a sailboat after a distress call near the North Entry of the Portage Canal Thursday.
The Marine Division and Coast Guard Station Portage responded to a distress call after the vessel lost power and took on water.
The 41-foot boat was traveling from Isle Royale National Park with two passengers.
The boat was secured and towed by the Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Coast Guard.
The vessel owners suffered no injuries.
