ISHPEMING, MI. – Marjorie Edith Leffler, 93, of Ishpeming, died Tuesday afternoon, August 12, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital.
Marjorie was born on October 2, 1920 in Ishpeming, a daughter of the late John and Edith (Kelly) Garrett and was a lifelong Ishpeming resident. She was a 1938 graduate of Ishpeming High School and the Area Training Center at NMU.
Marjorie worked 15 1/2 years at NMU in the Edgar L. Harden Learning Resource Center. She was also employed at Younkers and Taco Bell, retiring at the age of 85. During her retirement she worked as a volunteer secretary. In her free time, Marjorie enjoyed baking and knitting.
Survivors include two children, Garrett Leffler and Margaret Ann Leffler, both of Ishpeming; one granddaughter, Lasondra Leffler and three great grandchildren, Garrett, Alexis and Symphoni. Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, as well as great and great, great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband, Paul R. Leffler; two children, Sandra Kay Leffler and John R. Leffler; two brothers, W.G. Garrett and Douglas Garrett, and a sister, Frances Prideaux.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 16 at 1 p.m. in the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Jarvis presiding. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
A luncheon will be served in the funeral home immediately following the service on Saturday. Graveside services will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery on Monday at 1 p.m.
