Rodney R. Lightfoot
GWINN, MI. – Rodney R. Lightfoot, 63, of Gwinn, died Thursday evening, August 7, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital.
He was born June 21, 1951, in Hancock, Michigan, a son of Arthur and Helen (Roberts) Lightfoot. He was raised in Houghton and was a 1970 graduate of Houghton High School.
Rodney was a veteran of the US Air Force from April 22, 1971 to May 31, 1991.
He was employed as a mechanic for American Airlines for 22 years and retired on June 25, 2014.
He was a member of the Little Lake American Legion Post #349 and enjoyed golfing and classic cars.
Rodney is survived by his daughters, Sabrina Earnest and husband Michael of Myrtle Beach, SC and Chrystina Lightfoot of Mt. Pleasant, MI; mother, Helen Lightfoot of Hancock, MI; grandchildren, Alyssa Capps, Christopher Capps and Michael Jones; and a brother, James Lightfoot and wife Yvonne of Houghton. He was preceded in death by his father Arthur and a brother, Fred.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at noon in the Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Little Lake American Legion Post #349. Little Lake American Legion Post #349 will be providing lunch following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mr. Lightfoot’s children.
