Tigers get ace Price in blockbuster deal
DETROIT – Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price has been traded to the Detroit Tigers. ESPN reports that Detroit sent center fielder Austin Jackson to Seattle while Tampa Bay received left-hander Drew Smyly from the Tigers and infielder Nick Franklin from the Mariners, according to multiple reports.
The trade joins Price with Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander, the past three AL Cy Young Award winners in the AL Central-leading Tigers rotation.
The deal comes just hours after the Oakland A’s got Jon Lester from the Boston Red Sox.
