Chippewa Co. woman arraigned in stabbing

SAULT STE. MARIE – A Sault Ste. Marie woman was arraigned Wednesday in Chippewa County District Court, accused of stabbing her boyfriend with intent to murder.

Jamie Marie Crystal, 37, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Aug. 11 on a charge of assault with intent to murder. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety, with a condition set that she cannot go near the alleged victim.

Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a Soo Township residence for a stabbing complaint late Monday.

In a news release, deputies said the victim suffered severe, but non-life-threatening injuries. When police arrived, Crystal had already left the scene.

Crystal was located by police and arrested Tuesday. Police said the investigation is ongoing into the incident.
