Wester holds on for victory

MARQUETTE – Chad Wester survived less-than-ideal conditions early Sunday to win the championship of the men’s President’s Cup on the Heritage course at the Marquette Golf Club.

Wester, who also led after the first round when he shot 69, added 71 Sunday. His net score, which includes handicap that was used to determine the champion, was 65-67-132, a 14-stroke victory over runner-up Steve Whelan, who had 75-71-146. In third was Jon Kamps with 74-77-151.

The low gross, or actual score, title went to Mike Marietta with 78-74-152, followed by Brett Specker with 74-80-154 and Kenn Hruska with 77-78-155.
