MARQUETTE, MI. – Thomas Fouchard, 84, of Marquette, died peacefully Monday evening, July 21, 2014, at his home, surrounded by family and under the care of U.P. Home Health & Hospice.
Tom was born on January 21, 1930 in Manistique, Michigan, a son of the late Frank and Helen (Morin) Fouchard. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years and previously by Cliffs Dow Chemical Company and Bunny Bread.
Tom and his late wife, Betty, enjoyed traveling across the country and abroad. They particularly enjoyed summer trips with their children and grandchildren. One of Tom’s passions included gardening. He was also an avid history enthusiast and animal lover.
Survivors include three daughters, Susan (Jim Wilson) Smith of Marquette, Cathleen (Jim) Enright of Marquette, and Deborah (Mark) Box of Waukesha, WI; five grandchildren, Crystal Fouchard, Shannon (Bob) Melka, Amanda Wilcox, Joshua Box and Mathew Box; three great grandchildren, Travis Melka, Lindsay Gooch and Jack Gooch; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was his beloved wife of 62 years, Betty Fouchard; a daughter, Linda Fouchard; also one brother and sisters.
Friends may call at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Thursday from 12 noon until 1 p.m. where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. with Dr. Robert McElhaney presiding.
Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. A luncheon will take place immediately following the service in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be David Gooch, Amanda Wilcox, Mathew Box, Joshua Box, Travis Melka, and Mark Box.
