Winters performs at Crystal Theatre

CRYSTAL FALLS – Award-winning jazz singer Ellen Winters will present “The Girl Singer: A Tribute to Rosemary Clooney” at Crystal Theatre at 3 p.m. CT Sunday.

Best known for her role in Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas,” Clooney’s career spanned nearly 60 years. The tribute program weaves the hits that made one of America’s sweethearts famous with stories of the joys and sorrows of her personal life.

Touted as Milwaukee’s best jazz singer, Winters has recreated the voice and era of Clooney with pianist-conductor Sam Steffke. The ensemble also includes Hal Miller on bass and Jim Ryan on drums. Guest vocalists for this production are Peggy Peterson Ryan and an area favorite Don Lobacz, of Four Guyz in Dinner Jackets.

Winters has performed jazz and cabaret at venues in Canada, Europe, and across the United States. She is on the faculty at Columbia College in Chicago, where she teaches music theory courses and private voice.

Advance tickets for this performance can be purchased online at thecrystaltheatre.org or by phoning 367-4072.

Admission at the door is $20 for adults and $5 for youths under 18 years old.
