Venice holds off UP Home Health in Iron Range Women’s Softball Class A

Iron Range Women’s Softball League

In Class A play, Venice outlasted UP Home Health, 15-14, as both Nikki Whitford and Terri Ostola went 4-for-4. Terri Tammelin posted three hits for the losers.

Amy Barnes hit a homer and Anna Dompierre went 4-for-4 as Sisters drubbed Crossfit 901, 16-1. Jesse Rosten and Kelly Hebert added three hits each for the winners.

Traci Sundberg hit a double, and teammates Sheri Hewitt, Nikki Richer and Shannon O’Donnell chipped in two hits apiece, for Crossfit.

Jubilee Foods beat Rookie’s Too/Quality Car Care (no score available), behind four hits by Amanda Harlock, including a home run. Loretta Waananen and Cathy Bertucci also produced four hits apiece.

For Rookie’s Too/Quality Car Care, Angie Paris and Lori Marshall collected three hits each.

Debbie Zummak and Sara Polini both went 4-for-5 as Buck’s Party Store clubbed Jasper Ridge Brewery I, 21-4. Kayla Holmes turned in three hits (triple), and LeAnn Saarek and Mindy Nardi two each, for Jasper.

UP Off Road blasted Martin Sports Apparel, 21-6, behind four hits apiece by JoBeth Williams (home run) and Britney Racine (triple). Jill Kangas had three hits for Martin.

In Class B, Signs Unlimited crushed Jasper Ridge Brewery II, 22-4, as Bethy Finnala went 4-for-5 with two homers.

Liz Valela smacked a homer and Tera Bell a triple for Jasper II.

Dave’s Collision downed Pasquali’s, 22-15, behind four hits (homer) by Mel Bess and three by Amy Niemi. Kara Havel recorded a homer and Shelly Young collected three hits for Pasquali’s.

Katie Rankinen belted a home run to lead Fox Negaunee to an 11-5 win over Red Rock Lanes. Jordan Wixtrom hit a round tripper for Red Rock Lanes.

Jack’s TeePee shaded Hickey’s, 12-9, as Lindsey Thompson hit two home runs and Gabby Croley added an over-the-fence circuit clout.

Jamie Berlin belted a homer and Emily Hagge contributed a triple for Hickey’s.

Cliff’s Natural Resources shelled Paradise Bar, 26-9, behind a grand slam by Mya Maanika. April Lawer and Lori Nelson collected two hits each for Paradise Bar.

In Class C, UP Fabricating defeated Venice, 6-2, as Val Prusi hit a homer. For Venice, Nik Anderson went 2-for-3.

Rose Korpi and Jen Quayle both went 3-for-4 as Palomaki Family Chiropractic stopped Creative Industries, 10-5. Jena Arnette added two hits.

Ashley Talus went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the losers. Rachel Sorrel added a double.

Eagles thumped Willey’s Tire Shop, 21-2, as winning pitcher Joy Prisk hit for the cycle. Ecko Popps (double) and Micailly Carlson also produced four hits apiece for the winners.

For Willey’s, Monica Cox counted a triple among her two hits.

Karen Wiegand smacked a home run, and Sydney Higgins added a double and a triple, as Wooden Nickel edged Rookie’s, 12-10. Ally Solander hit a homer and a triple for Rookie’s.

Eastwood overwhelmed Xccelerated Fitness, 28-3, as Kera Williams hit a double and a triple. Taryn Gleason added a triple.

For the losers, Lauren Veale went 2-for-2 and Chelsea Norton added a double.

Veronica Slone went 5-for-5 with two homers, and Ashley Asgaard 4-for-5 with two doubles and a triple, as Chapper’s turned back Martin Sports Apparel II, 29-20. Taylor Gray contributed three hits (homer, double).

For Martin II, Sarah Massie went 5-for-5 with two triples. Teammate Chandra Hintsala added four hits.
