Driver cited in crash involving Marquette police car

MARQUETTE – Michigan State Police troopers from the Negaunee post have concluded their investigation into a crash between a Marquette City Police Department cruiser and a vehicle driven by a Marquette resident.

The crash occurred at about 11:35 p.m. Saturday at the corner of North Fourth Street and West Hewitt Avenue in Marquette.

Troopers said a vehicle driven by Benjamin Simon, 24, pulled out onto Fourth Street into the path of the police car, which was driven by officer Tim Forslund.

Forslund and Simon were taken to Marquette General Hospital where they were treated and released.

Troopers said Simon was found to be at fault in the accident and was ticketed for failure to yield.

The Marquette Fire Department and Marquette General EMS assisted at the scene.
