Marvin J. Doucette

NEGAUNEE, MI. – Marvin John Doucette, 66, of 1112 E. Maas St., Negaunee, passed away unexpectedly at home due to a heart attack on Sunday, July 13, 2014.

Marvin was born April 21, 1948 in Marquette to Leo and Miriam (Savala) Doucette, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1966, and was a lifelong Negaunee resident. Upon completing high school, he was employed at O.K. Auto, currently Auto Value Parts Store, in West Ishpeming for over 45 years. Marvin was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country in the Vietnam War from 1968-70.

Marvin married the love of his life, Ruby Montgomery, on July 6, 1968. He was an avid bicycle rider, enjoyed bowling, and loved golfing, which he played regularly with his brothers and Uncle.

Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Ruby Doucette; son, Jon (Kirsten) Doucette of Arvada, CO; daughter, Tonia (Rich Barringer) Vanzant of Oklahoma City, OK; was a loving Papa to his grandchildren: Bailey, Calvin and Eleanore Doucette, and Alec and Alyssa Vanzant; brothers: Bobby (Mary Bianchi) Doucette and Don Doucette, both of Ishpeming; sister, Bonnie Kurian of Ishpeming; brothers-in-law, Denver and Dayrus Montgomery; sisters-in-law, Rosie (Don) Wilson and Sonia (Rex) Dalton; special Aunt and Uncle, Joyce and Charlie ‘Bobby’ Larson; special lifelong friends, Lynn and Dennis Potila; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Denny Vanzant.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, July 18 at Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. D. Michael Carriere officiating. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00 pm until the time of services at 4:00 pm at the funeral home on Friday, and also at a reception in the fellowship hall of Mitchell United Methodist Church immediately following the service.
