Tri-City ousted in semis
MARQUETTE – Tri-City dropped a 3-1 decision to Wolverine on Sunday in the semifinals of the Leo Durocher Memorial baseball tournament in Stanton.
North Stars starting pitcher Preston Hutchens allowed three unearned runs over six innings of work. All of Wolverine’s runs came in the third inning with two outs.
Tri-City plated one in the fourth when Jeremy Rae scored on a bases-loaded RBI-groundout.
Paul Storm led the North Stars (5-3) with two hits.
Tri-City is next scheduled to host a doubleheader against the Marinette (Wisconsin) Redbirds. Game time is 1 p.m. at Negaunee’s Irontown Field.
