MARQUETTE – Russell Dees, a woodcarver from Marquette, will demonstrate the woodcarving of Native American spoons at the John Burt House on Monday from 1-3:30 p.m. The demonstration is part of the Living History series leading to a major exhibition of Upper Peninsula folk arts of the Marquette County Historical Society which will be featuring in September. The Burt House is the restored pioneer cottage maintained by the society and is located at 220 Craig St.

NEGAUNEE – Joseph Barabe, director of the Negaunee City Band, announced today the band will play the first of two concerts, a guest performance at the rock garden in front of the Mather Inn, Ishpeming. Sunday night the band will give its regular concert at the municipal band shell.
