Huuki arraigned in Calumet

CALUMET TOWNSHIP – The Michigan State Police Calumet post has arrested a 26-year-old male from Calumet for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old male from Laurium, according to a written statement from the post.

At approximately 1:50 a.m. Friday, troopers responded to a call of a stabbing outside a residence on Hecla Street in Calumet Township.

Troopers determined the two men got into an argument in the residence. Both men left the building and started fighting.

The 26-year-old male allegedly went back into the house to get two kitchen knives then went back outside. Shortly after that, a witness in the residence reported hearing the victim yell, then 911 was called.

The 26-year-old has been identified as Kyle Huuki . He was arrested Friday morning and lodged in the Houghton County jail. On Friday afternoon Huuki was arraigned in 97th District Court on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.

The victim’s name will not be released.
