Readers Theater welcomes new production

MARQUETTE -Readers Theater welcomes the public to join in a reading of “Ring Round the Moon” by Jean Anouilh at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Peter White Public Library Shiras Room.

The evening’s script is an adaptation of Jean Anouilh’s comedy centering on Cinderella at a lavish ball where twin brothers, played by the same actor, woo her amid all sorts of identity confusions.

A theatre work of wit and style, the first production of “Ring Round the Moon” was given at the Globe Theatre and starred Paul Scofield and Claire Bloom.

Jean Anouilh was a French playwright whose 50-year career produced work ranging from drama to farce. He is best known for his 1943 play, “Antigone,” based on the work of Sophocles.

Readers Theater is a group of adults who are interested in drama and are willing and able to read a scripted role. They meet on the third Thursday of each month to read plays for enjoyment. New readers are always welcome.
