Co-op improves classroom offerings

The new Marquette Food Co-op building on West Washington Street includes a community classroom in the basement, shown above nearing completion recently. Since the 1970s, the co-op has been offering food classes. The classes run September through May, with a summer session of classes that emphasizes gardening topics at the Northern Michigan University hoop house the co-op manages. In addition to the cooking and gardening classes, the classroom will enable the co-op to host more speakers, workshops and movies. For more information, visit the co-op’s website at
