Summer tax bills to be collected
MARQUETTE – Summer tax bills totaling $30 million will be mailed to Marquette city property owners Monday. The due date for payment of city summer taxes is Sept. 14.
Tax collection will begin Tuesday, with payments accepted at the city treasurer’s office without interest through Sept. 14. Interest of 1 percent is added to the summer tax bill Sept. 15 and again on the 15th of every month.
This summer’s property tax bill represents millage levies for the city of Marquette, Peter White Public Library, senior millage, Marquette Downtown Development Authority, state education, Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Service Agency, county operating and the Iron Ore Heritage Authority.
