Globe edges Meyer in W.I.N. Girls Slowpitch

W.I.N. Girls Slowpitch League

In the Junior League, Globe Printing defeated Meyer Family Vision, 8-6, behind two hits and a walk by Haley Mattila. Anna Chipman (double, home run) and Hope Kaukola added two hits each. For Meyer, Maija Homola and Sydney Hodgins each went 2-for-2. Teammate Jillian Sonderschafer scored twice and hit a double.

Globe Printing beat Tru North Credit Union, 8-4, as Chipman went 2-for-3 with a homer; Mattila went 3-for-3 and recorded 10 strikeouts; and Brooke Hill and Mackenzie Nelson each produced two hits.

For TruNorth, Amber Lahnanen and Lea LaChapelle each recorded two hits.

Globe Printing topped Martin Sportswear, 13-5, with Kaukola, Chipman (two homers), Morgan Coolidge and Nelson each going 3-for-3

For Martin, Rylee Harris, Olivia Corp, Melissa Bauer and Hannah Wedgeworth recorded two hits apiece.

Meyer Family Vision ripped Jubilee Foods, 22-6, as Julia Johnson went 4-for-5 with two doubles; Ellie Homola went 3-for-4; and Maija Homola and Sonderschafer were both 3-for-4.

For Jubilee, Hailey Hill posted three hits and Dominique Neuffer hit a double.

Globe Printing survived a rally by Jubilee Foods, winning 14-8. Chipman led the way with a grand slam and another home run. Coolidge (four), Mattila (three) and Kaukola (three) combined for 10 hits for Globe.

Globe Printing topped Peninsula Bank, 24-5. For Globe, Chipman went 5-for-5 with two home runs. Hayley Mattila and Kaukola went 5-for-5 and Hannah Mattila went 4-for-5.

For Pen Bank, Meghan Johnson and Sierra Lang each had two hits and Chantel Woodbridge added a hit and a walk.

Martin’s Sportswear edged TruNorth, 16-14. For Martin’s, Harris went 4-for-4 and scored three runs, and Corp went 3-4 and scored three runs.

For TruNorth, Avery Mariuzza went 4-for-4 and scored three runs, and Calli Solka went 4-for-5 and scored 2 runs.

Meyer Family Vision topped TruNorth, 17-8. For Meyer, Maija Homola and Grace Rogers had doubles.

For Tru North, Amber Lahnanen went 3-for-3.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Meyer won, 25-4. Alexxus Taavola went 3-for-3 with a home run; Livvie Wood went 3-for-4 with a triple; and Sydney Hodgins went 2-for-2.

For TruNorth, Calli Solka was 3-for-3 with a triple.

Martin Sportswear stopped Jubilee Foods, 24-5, with Missy Bauer going 4-for-4 with a triple and a home run. Corp went 3-for-4 with two triples.

For Jubilee, Dominique Neuffer went 2-for-2 and scored twice; and Ella DeMarois went 2-for-2 while scoring twice.

Peninsula Bank stomped TruNorth Credit Union, 26-8, as Alena Palomaki went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple. Also, Maddalen Koch went 3-for-4 and Woodbridge 4-for-4 with a double and a triple for the winners.

For TruNorth, Amber Lahnanen and Mariah Blakely recorded three hits apiece.

Peninsula Bank also dumped Martin Sportswear, 13-4. Johnson went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Teammate Jadyn Maki went 3-for-3 with two doubles.

For Martin, Harris and Marley Hagelin posted three hits each.

In the Senior League, VFW outlasted Woody’s Auto, 26-19, as Annie Bjork hit two home runs and Mackenzie Baldwin added two doubles.

For Woody’s, Kassy Carlson went 4-for-4 and Katie Etelamaki belted a home run.

VFW trimmed Jubilee Foods, 10-9, with Lexy Johnson hitting a home run and Hannah Argall smacking a game-winning triple.

For Jubilee, Courtney Clickner and Desiree Neveau hit doubles, and Kaylin Luoma contributed a triple.

The Tri-Township Lions bounced Woody’s Auto, 18-3. Jordyn Olander hit for the cycle and knocked in five runs for the winners.

Bree Ranta also went 4-for-4 with a home run; Kaeleigh Talbacka 3-for-3 with a double; and Madison Pruett collected two triples and a double.

For Woody’s, Jailyn Gilles and Lili Briggs posted two hits each, with Gilles scoring twice.

VFW topped the Elks, 15-5. For VFW, Sarah Rautio went 3-for-3 with a home run; Alyssa Bjork went 3-for-3 with a triple and a double; and Alyssa Ball went 3-for-3.

For the Elks, Brianna Aho and Chloe Stetson rapped out three hits each.

The Ishpeming Tri-Township Lions pulled away late to beat VFW, 17-11. The Lions were paced by Dixie Nicholas, who went 3-for-3 and scored twice; Rylee Ring, who punched out two hits for three RBIs; and Willow LaChapelle and Bree Ranta, who contributed three hits apiece.

For VFW, Alyssa Bjork and Mackenzie Baldwin each went 3-for-4, with Baldwin hitting a home run and collecting three RBIs.

Jubilee Foods beat Woody’s Auto, 20-6, as Kaylin Luoma and Taylor Bond (home run, triple and single) both went 3-for-3. Neveau and Megan Luoma also hit home runs.

For Woody’s, Gilles, Morgan Harvala and Bridget Wood collected two safeties each.
