MARQUETTE – Myrtle Weston recently received a silver tray from Henry Seitz, president of the Marquette County unit of the American Heart Association of Michigan. Weston, who was honored for her outstanding volunteer service to the Heart Information Center, will be leaving her position as volunteer coordinator for the center. New volunteer coordinator Lois St.Onge was introduced at the meeting.

MARQUETTE – Three physician specialists in emergency medicine at Marquette General Hospital were recently certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. They are Dr. T. Scott Emerson, Dr. Kirk Klemme, and Dr. Peter Zenti.

60 Years Ago

MARQUETTE – Michigan State Highway Department today had an easement and grading permit from the Marquette County Board of Supervisors covering a portion of county property that lies in the right-of-way for the proposed new highway between Marquette and Negaunee.

ISHPEMING – Beginning Friday, two days a week have been set aside as official Hat Days, when all men, women and children will wear one of the four chapeaus designated as official hats.
