Ishpeming 4th of July Committee to host golf outing as fundraiser
ISHPEMING – The Ishpeming 4th of July Committee will hold its fourth annual Fireworks Fundraiser Golf Outing at Wawonowin Country Club Friday, and there’s still room to sign up.
The fireworks are the city’s biggest Independence Day expense, costing about $10,000, and the fundraiser is an opportunity to take part in an event that’s both fun and beneficial to the local community.
“It’s community spirit, it’s strictly to help our community out and to promote the fireworks – which the entire town and more enjoy on the 4th of July,” said Steve Nelson, a member of the committee. “Without fundraisers like this, without money coming in from the local community, these things wouldn’t be able to continue.”
As many as 22 four-person teams can sign up to tee off.
Beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, the outing is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start, featuring special forward tees for women and seniors and including games and special challenges at certain holes.
After golfing, participants will receive complementary lunch and soft drinks before a short awards ceremony.
An “executive sponsor” – a four-person team with the team name on a placard at a tee – will pay $300 and an additional $30 for each golf cart. A four-person team is $220 with carts an extra $30 each. And to sponsor a tee is only $100, getting your name or logo on a tee box placard.
Anyone interested can email Nelson at email@example.com to sign up, or for more information.
