PWPL to screen ‘Dead Poets Society’

MARQUETTE – Peter White Public Library’s Film Club invites the public to a free screening of the modern classic film “Dead Poets Society” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the library’s Community Room.

In this drama, English teacher John Keating, played by Robin Williams, inspires his students to a love of poetry and to “seize the day.”

Ethan Hawke plays painfully shy Todd Anderson who has been sent to the school where he lives in the shadow of his popular older brother.

Todd’s room-mate, Neil, although exceedingly bright and popular, is very much under the thumb of his overbearing father.

The two, along with their friends, meet professor Keating who tells them of the Dead Poets Society and encourages them to go against the status quo.

The film is rated PG and runs for 128 minutes. Light refreshments will be served.

There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information visit or call 226-4318.
