Bergland crash leads to injuries
ONTONAGON – Troopers from Michigan State Police responded to a two-vehicle personal-injury accident at about 4:20 p.m. Saturday on M-28 near Pendock Road in Bergland Township. The driver of an eastbound vehicle, 26-year-old Grant Larsen of Waterloo, Iowa, had slowed down and was turning left onto Pendock. According to police, he did not see the westbound vehicle, driven by 48-year-old Laurie Miller of Ironwood, and Larsen pulled in front of the westbound vehicle, with Miller unable to avoid the crash.
Two passengers in the westbound vehicle, May Miller, 25, of Ironwood and Karla Croteau of Rockland, also were injured.
All three occupants of the Miller vehicle were transported from the scene to Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood for treatment of unknown injuries. Both vehicles had severe front-end damage and were towed from the scene by Lahti’s Towing and Eddy Park Towing. Troopers were assisted on the scene by the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office, Bergland Volunteer Fire Department, Bruce Crossing Volunteer Fire Department, Sonco South Ambulance Service and two Beacon Ambulance ALS units, along with the Motor Carrier Division of the Michigan State Police.
