Bratonia no-hitter gives Blues sweep
CHANNING – Trevor Bratonia tossed a complete game, seven-inning no-hitter to lead the Marquette American Legion Blues to a 5-1 win over host Channing in the second game of a baseball doubleheader Friday.
In the first game, the Blues romped, 12-3.
Bratonia struck out six and walked four, allowing an unearned run in the second inning.
He got two hits apiece from teammates Hunter Larson, Riley Lynch and Payton LeBombard. One of Lynch’s hits was a double.
The Blues, who scored three runs in the opening inning, also got two RBIs from Levi Underwood.
Logan O’Neil took the mound loss. He gave up 11 hits and two walks while fanning eight.
In the first game, the Blues (23-6) notched four runs in the opening frame, then put the game away with a six-run seventh inning.
McKinley Larson belted a home run and knocked in three runs. Blues teammate Sam Leow added two RBIs.
Larson claimed the pitching triumph, surrendering four hits and four walks while striking out 11.
Noah Berg was tagged with the loss. He gave up 10 runs on three hits and 12 walks while whiffing eight.
