Margaret Ann Ritola

REPUBLIC, MI. – Margaret Ann Ritola, 76, of Hawks Dr., Republic Township, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2014.

Margaret was born October 14, 1937 in Ishpeming to Raymond and Helen (Carlson) Sullivan, graduated from Republic Central High School, Class of 1955, and was a lifelong Republic resident. She married Sulo Ritola on June 18, 1955, and together they owned and operated Sulo Ritola Trucking.

Mrs. Ritola was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic. In her free time she enjoyed knitting in the company of her close friends and their annual trip to Green Bay, and most importantly spending time with her family.

Surviving are her son, Daryl Ritola of Republic; 3 daughters: Christy (Charlie) Dillon of Witch Lake, Debbie Jump of Aurora, WI and Tammy (Troy) Brancheau of Republic; 10 grandchildren: Charles (Jaclyn) Dillon, Timothy (Lauren) Dillon, Brandon (Carrie) Jump, Brandi (Michael) Hainault, Bradey (Julie) Jump, Melanie (Tommy) Horan, Britany (Bradley) LaFave, Todd (Amber) Brancheau, Justin Dillon and Dustin Brancheau; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Sharon (Donnie) Kangas of Republic and Diane (David) Wood of Ishpeming; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Oliver) Voegtline; brother-in-law, Wilho Ritola; her aunt, ‘Babe’; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend, Donnie Sheperd of Republic.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Sulo Ritola in 1989.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, June 16th at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Republic, with Rev. Dan Moll officiating. Burial will be in the Republic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Margaret’s grandsons. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am at the church on Monday, and also at a luncheon in the church hall immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Lake Superior Hospice in Marquette, or St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic in Margaret’s memory.
