Clarabelle ‘CB’ L. Parker

MARQUETTE, MI. – Clarabelle L. “CB” Parker, age 78, of Marquette, entered eternal life Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital, in the loving, comforting care of her family.

Clarabelle was born April 8, 1936, in Escanaba, a daughter of Allen and Verna (Pirlot) Garvey. Following the death of her father and the remarriage of her mother to Frank Parker, CB was adoped by Frank and her named legally changed to Parker. She was raised in South Marquette and graduated from the Bishop Baraga High School. On June 5, 1956, CB married Duane Parker, a neighbor she had known growing up. Together the couple raised six children while Duane served at various Air Force assignments in Turkey, Canada, Hawaii, and throughout the United States. CB enjoyed traveling, camping, bingo, and doing Word Search. Locally, CB was employed in the housekeeping department at Marquette General Hospital for a time.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Duane; her children, Elizabeth (Larry) Birmingham of Palmer, Patrick (Beth) Parker of Marquette, Frank (Linda) Parker of Marquette, George Parker of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Tina (Mark) Brandel, Sr of Marquette, and Kris (John) Contois of DePere, WI; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Alice Parker of Marquette; a brother-in-law, William Wilder of Negaunee; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

CB was preceded in death by her father, mother, and adoptive father; a sister, Marcella Wilder; and brother, Leroy Parker.

The family will receive relatives and friends in the Bishop’s Room located at St. Peter Cathedral on Wednesday, June 18, beginning at 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the cathedral at noon Wednesday with Rev. Martin Flynn as celebrant. A reception will follow in Cathedral Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lake Superior Hospice Association or Cancer Care of Marquette County.
