DNR to conduct controlled burn today in Schoolcraft County
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will conduct a prescribed burn today in Schoolcraft County near Stanley Lake.
The 700-acre blaze is being set to improve habitat for sharp-tailed grouse and white-tailed deer.
DNR officials said controlled burns are planned to achieve specific objectives and are conducted by highly-trained DNR personnel in designated state-managed areas, during proper weather conditions and in cooperation with proper authorities and local units of governments.
