Vehicle knocks out pole, power
MARQUETTE – Crews were working to restore power to 573 Upper Peninsula Power Co. customers in the Ishpeming area Tuesday afternoon.
The power outage occurred after a vehicle struck a power pole on Cooper Lake Road in Ishpeming Township at 1:27 p.m. Tuesday, said Lisa Prunty, public relations manager for Integrys Energy Group Inc., UPPCO’s parent company.
The customers affected were on Cooper Lake Road, North Camp Road, South Camp Road, Braastad’s Road and Red Road.
UPPCO hoped to have power restored late Tuesday, pending the arrival of a new pole and the arrival of the gas company, which will locate gas lines before any digging to place the new pole can occur, Prunty said.
