Greco-Roman wrestlers qualify

MARQUETTE – Greco-Roman wrestlers Arthur Carmona and Alejandro Sancho of the Northern Michigan University Olympic Training Site have qualified for the FILA Junior World Championships Aug. 5-10 in Zagreb, Croatia. The two placed first in their weight divisions during the U.S. Junior World Team Trials in Madison, Wisconsin, over the weekend.

At 55 kilograms (121 pounds), Carmona defeated Ibrahim Bunduka, 2-1, while Sancho (66kg/145.5 pounds) beat Renaldo Rodriguez-Spencer, 2-0.

NMU-OTS competitors who placed second were Kyndall Rutz ( 50kg/110lbs.), who lost to Josiah Seaton, 2-0; Travis Rice (60kg/132lbs.) who fell to Dante Rodriguez, 2-0; and Barrett Stanghill (74kg/163lbs.), who dropped a 2-1 decision to Jon Jay Chavez.
