Nancy (DeVold) Lahde

ISHPEMING, MI. – Nancy Lahde, 78, of Ishpeming, daughter of Albert and Ione DeVold, went to be with her Lord and Grandson Bobby on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at her home with her loving family by her side and under the care of Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.

Nancy entered the world December 29, 1935, baptized, confirmed and raised in Trinity Lutheran Church. She and her husband, Bob, were proud parents of Robert, Jr. (Sephanie Meitner) and Jeff (Kathy) Lahde and grandparents to Christina, Ashley and Samantha Lahde. Nancy is also survived by a sister, Helen Kubas.

Her working career began as a bookkeeper for Dubinsky’s in Ishpeming. Upon graduation, she went to Milwaukee until Bob decided he wanted her and only her for a wife. She returned to Ishpeming and a courtship and marriage evolved.

Bob’s employment brought them to Romeo, MI. As his career blossomed, their life traveled to many different cities; Romeo to Naperville, IL to name a few.

Nancy was known as ‘Aunty Aunty’ to the 3rd and 4th generation kids. She and Bob spent winters in Florida and Gulf Shores, AL until it was too difficult for her to travel such a distance. Their last winter was spent in Appleton, which she loved as her children, grandkids and great grandkids live there.

She developed many talents, including stained glass work, knitting, collecting bells nd lifelong friendships. She was a talented musician; playing the organ and often entertaining generations of children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Nancy also enjoyed her Wednesday night cocktail crew and an occasional trip to the casino.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Bobby, and 4 sisters: Dorothy, Marion, Marjore and Kay.

Rest in peace, Mom, until we see you again.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 6th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Kenneth Lahners officiating. Interment will take place in Northland Chapel Gardens. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of services 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Vincent DePaul Society in Nancy’s memory.
