By Journal Sports Staff

MARQUETTE – A one-of-its-kind basketball tournament in Marquette County will be held Friday through Sunday, June 6-8, outdoors in Negaunee.

The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team is sponsoring as a fundraiser the inaugural 4 on 4 Roundball Classic to be held at Miner’s Park, located along U.S. 41 and bordered by Maple and Maas streets.

In case of inclement weather, games will be moved indoors to Negaunee Middle School.

Age divisions range from third grade through 45 years and older – including male and female – and several open divisions.

Regardless of format, all teams are guaranteed two 25-minute-long games in either pool play/single-elimination or straight double-elimination brackets, depending on entries.

Every player receives a 32-ounce Gatorade squeeze bottle, with T-shirts awarded to champions.

The cost is $125 per team, five players maximum, and must be paid online with a credit card.
