Gobert powers Dave’s past Paradise in Iron Range Softball League

NEGAUNEE – Jamee Gobert hit a game-winning grand slam homer to cap off a 4-for-5 day at the plate as Dave’s Collision outscored Paradise, 23-22, in Class B action of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on May 21.

Gobert also had two triples while teammate Lisa Carlson was 2 for 2. Rachel Marta and Rebekah Ayotte each went 2 for 3 for Paradise, including a double for Marta and triple for Ayotte.

In other B action, Signs Unlimited edged Jack’s Tee Pee, 22-21, as winning pitcher Emily Garceau was 4 for 4 and Signs teammate Erin Carlson was 3 for 4. Gabby Croley hit a grand slam and Lindsey Thompson homered for Jack’s.

Heidi Verville was 4 for 4 and Toni Enrietti 4 for 5 as each homered to lead Fox Negaunee to a 26-19 win over Jasper Ridge 2. Kasey Liubakka homered and Ella Bertucci doubled for Jasper.

Randi Boule was 4 for 4 with a grand slam to lead Cliffs Natural Resources to a 13-11 win over Hickey’s, which got 3-for-3 performances out of Rachel Gray and Nichi Sundberg.

Nicki Frisk homered twice and Brandi Korpi once to help Pasquali’s overcome Red Rock Lanes, 17-13. Rachel Scott hit two doubles and Brook LeClair a triple for Red Rock.

In Class A, Katie Erspamer and Elyssa Hallum hit back-to-back homers to ease U.P. Home Health past Sister’s, 20-18. Leah Dompierre and Anna Dompierre each went 4 for 4 for Sister’s.

Jasper Ridge 1 was cited for good fielding in a 6-3 duel over Crossfit 906, which got 3-for-3 nights from both Kim Koski and Shannon O’Donnell.

Mick Roberts and Michelle Turri each went 4 for 4 to help Venice 1 pummel Rookies Too/Quality Car Care, 18-3. Roberts had a double among her hits while teammate Nikki Whitford hit an over-the-fence home run.

Doni Hernandez, who doubled, Brandi Petrocik and Julie Carlson collected two hits apiece for Rookies/Quality.

Stacey Kruse was 4 for 4 and Ashley Anderson 3 for 3 in U.P. Off Road Performance’s 14-3 win over Jubilee Foods. Kinsie Bertucci was 3 for 3 for Jubilee.

Kathy Hill went 5 for 5 and Sara Polini 4 for 4 as Buck’s Party Store busted loose for a 22-1 win over Martin’s Sports Apparel 1, which got a hit off the bats of Jenna Pietila and Mindy Daavettila.

In Class C, Lynn Laakso hit a grand slam to power U.P. Fabricating past Palomaki Family Chiropractic, 10-8. Jen Quayle was 3 for 3 for Palomaki.

Joy Prisk and Micailly Carlson each went 3 for 3 to lead the Eagles over Martin’s Sports Apparel 2, 14-12. Prisk had a homer and triple in her collection to make a winner of pitcher Sue Bazinette. Kara Harrington went 4 for 5 and Mindy Harrington 3 for 4 for Martin.

Nicole Anderson was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and Sue Luokkala 3 for 5 with two runs as Venice 2 dropped Eastwood, 14-11. Ellen Sundberg was 4 for 4 as she and Chelsea Hewitt each had a triple and double for Eastwood.

Monica Cox and Miranda Nelson each went 4 for 4 and teammate Krystal Heikkinen 3 for 4 in Willey’s Tire Shop’s 17-7 win over Creative Industries. Cox hit a grand slam, Nelson a homer and triple and Heikkinen a double among their safeties.

Ashley Talus was 3 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs and Carley Maki 2 for 3 with a double for Creative Industries.

Patty Stevens was 3 for 4 with a homer and Francise Higgins 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs in Wooden Nickel’s 14-11 win over Chappers. Thalicia Gray was 4 for 4 with a double and Ashley Helstein 3 for 4 with two doubles for Chappers.

Ally Solander’s grand slam was more than enough for Rookies in a 20-0 blanking of Xccelerated Fitness, though teammate Sam Laukka added a 5-for-5 night. Mallory McCormack helped turn a double play for Xccelerated.
