Navy aircraft flying in area worries some
MARQUETTE – An unidentified aircraft flying over some areas of Chocolay Township had more than a few people worried Thursday afternoon.
Sgt. Kevin Dowling of the Michigan State Police post in Negaunee Township said central dispatch received between 30 to 40 calls in a roughly 20-minute period about a low-flying aircraft in the area of M-28 and Lakewood Lane. The calls started coming in just after 1:30 p.m.
Dowling said the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the plane was a Navy jet conducting a training exercise over water. Dowling said the area it was flying in was part of a military flight path.
