NMU athletes in NCAA track finals
MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University is sending three women’s track and field athletes to compete at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Grand Valley State today through Saturday.
Senior Cheyenne Stewart will participate in the triple jump, junior Christina Toogood will compete in the 1,500 meter run and freshman Jasmine Williams will take part in the discus.
Toogood will run in the preliminaries of the 1,500 today, with the finals set for Saturday. Stewart and Williams will compete in their respective events on Friday. Stewart enters the field with a mark of 12.29 meters. Stewart was an All-American during indoor season in the triple jump and won both the indoor and outdoor triple jump at the GLIAC Championships.
Toogood earned her spot in the NCAA Championships after winning the 1,500-meter run at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships with a time of 4:31.54.
Williams posted her qualifying mark at the Al Owens Classic, where she finished second with a throw of 46.50 meters.
