Marilyn C. Greising

MARQUETTE/GWINN MI. – Marilyn C. Greising, age 60, of Marquette, entered eternal life on Friday, May 16, 2014, in the loving, comforting care of her family.

Born June 30, 1953 in Escanaba, a daughter of Russell J. and Eileen (Johnson) Case, Marilyn was raised in the Rapid River area and graduated from the Rapid River High School, class of 1971. Marilyn possessed a love for teaching and following graduation, enrolled at Northern Michigan University, pursuing a degree in education.

She did her student teaching in Peshtigo, Wisconsin, and after receiving her bachelors degree from NMU, future career teaching assignments followed in the Gwinn area at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base and later Mid Peninsula in Rock, from where she ultimately retired.

Marilyn was a natural when it came to teaching, whether in the classroom or throughout her lifetime, she was always ready to impart knowledge, advice, leadership, and friendship in equipping students with the tools for life. Marilyn enjoyed knitting, quilting, crafting, rock collecting, and had a love of animals. She was a very active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where she sang in the praise choir.

Marilyn is survived by her two children, Joseph (Angela) Greising of Eden Prairie, MN and Jennifer (Garrett Johnson) Greising of Marquette; two grandchildren, Claireece and Ellyse Greising of Eden Prairie; many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Jack in 1997.

Friends may call at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 21, beginning at 3:00 pm until the time of service at 5:00 pm. Rev. Steve Hulke will officiate. Marilyn’s family will serve as escorts. Burial will be made in the Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for future use in acquiring school supplies for the Mid Pen Schools.
