Golf outing for a good cause
MARQUETTE – The Superior Health Foundation, in partnership with Camp STAR, will host its annual golf outing on Sunday, June 29, at the Wawonowin Country Club in West Ishpeming. The event is sponsored by A. Lindberg & Sons, Inc. and North Greenwood Lakes of Ishpeming.
The four-person scramble, which will have a shotgun start at 10 a.m., serves as a fundraiser for SHF and Camp STAR. The latter is a weekend bereavement camp at Bay Cliff designed for children ages 7-18 who have experienced the painful loss of loved ones.
“The Superior Health Foundation is excited to work with Camp STAR on the golf outing,” said Jim LaJoie, executive director of the Superior Health Foundation. “We’re very hopeful we will raise enough money to cover the entire costs for Camp STAR, which will be held in mid-August.”
The event cost is $75, which includes 18 holes of golf, a goody bag, and a Mexican-style buffet dinner following the event. Participants will have an opportunity to win prizes and compete for prizes on three holes.
“We’re honored that the Superior Health Foundation chose Camp STAR to partner with,” said Dr. Larry Skendzel, clinical director of Camp STAR. “Grief can be terribly difficult to deal with, particularly with children.”
