NMU track: Three Wildcats reach NCAA Division II Championships

MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University’s women’s track and field team will have three members competing at the 2014 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 22-24 at Grand Valley State University in downstate Allendale.

Senior Cheyenne Stewart will participate in the triple jump, junior Christina Toogood will compete in the 1,500-meter run and freshman Jasmine Williams will take part in the discus.

Stewart enters the field with a mark of 12.29 meters. Stewart was an All-American during the indoor season in the triple jump and won both the indoor and outdoor triple jump at the GLIAC Championships.

Toogood earned her spot in the NCAA Championships after winning the 1,500 run at the GLIAC meet with a time of 4:31.54. Toogood was also an All-American during the indoor season in the 800-meter run.

Williams posted her qualifying mark at GVSU’s April Al Owens Classic, where she finished second with a throw of 46.50 meters.
