Prep golf: Peterson, Crampton record top-10 finishes for Marquette girls in Menominee

MENOMINEE – The Marquette Senior High School girls golf team placed two of its three competitors in the top 10 on Monday at the Menominee Invitational while the MSHS boys finished third as a team at Riverside Golf Club.

Hailey Peterson led the Redettes, who didn’t record a team score due to only fielding three golfers, with a 124 over 18 holes to finish seventh overall. Teammate Hannah Crampton carded a 132 to finish 10th.

The Redmen finished 30 strokes back of champion Marinette and 29 shots back of second-place Escanaba.

The MSHS boys were led by Brett Specker and Mike McGee, who both missed out on a top-10 finish by two strokes with 86s. Scott Frazier shot an 87 for the Redmen.

Carney-Nadeau’s Hunter Eichhorn recorded the low boys’ score of the day with a 74. The low girls score went to Escanaba’s Kelsey Motto, who shot a 92.

Escanaba topped second-place Carney-Nadeau by 41 strokes to win the girls team title.
