Now presenting: Thomas Theatre’s Marquette Cinema

MARQUETTE – A 32,000 square foot state-of-the-art multiplex that you have to see to believe. It may not look big from Commerce Drive but when you enter – you realize the scale of the building.

“We wanted the Marquette cinema to pay homage to the surrounding community,” said Thomas D. Andes, president of Thomas Theatre Group. “Our architects and design teams have not disappointed and we think our new neighbors will feel right at home when they walk in.”

Thomas Theatre Group’s legacy of bringing the best in the cinema industry to the U.P. continues in Marquette Thursday.

From the Thomas Superior Experience – our large format screen with available VIP seating – to a streamlined ticket and concession purchase experience, Thomas Theatre has pulled out all the stops. Andes is keeping many of the details quiet until Thursday when you can see it for yourself, but has shared these details with us.

Thomas Theatre brings the first large format

theatre to the U.P.

TSX is a large format theatre with a screen that measures 35 feet by 60 feet. Powered by a 7.1 digital surround sound system and a Barco digital projection system – you feel like you are part of the film. It is unlike anything you’ll see in a 200-mile radius of Marquette.

“Each theatre has stadium-style seating with high back chairs – there isn’t a bad seat in the theatre,” says Andes. “However, there is a great seat – the TSX theatre has 28 VIP seats located in the ‘Sweet Spot’ of the auditorium.”

All VIP Theatre

A smaller, all VIP seating theatre with the same screen and sound system as the larger TSX cinema. The setting really puts you in the middle of the show, and is powered by:

All-Digital Sound and Projection

All 10 cinemas at the Marquette location are outfitted with:

7.1 Digital Surround Sound Systems

Barco Digital Projection Systems

Dolby Digital 3D Theatres

“Being an all-digital theatre allows us to stagger show times and change theatres easily based on movie popularity,” said Andes. “Plus, the video and audio is incredibly crisp.”

We also offer the latest in ADA compliant devices and technologies so everyone can enjoy the movie going experience – hearing impaired, open captioning and closed captioning.

Drive Thru

Have you ever craved movie theatre popcorn but already decided to stay home? Thomas Theatre’s Marquette Cinema has the answer – a concessions drive thru around the back of the building. Take your favorite movie theatre treats home with you without getting out of your car.

Affordable Family-Friendly Entertainment

As a family-owned and operated business, being family-friendly is incredibly important to Thomas Theatre. They have a long history of many affordable family-friendly promotions at their Escanaba and Quinnesec locations that will also be offered in Marquette. These promotions include, special family day showings, snow day specials and Mother’s Day and Father’s Day specials and other weekly specials.

“We do not live in a large city so we won’t charge large city prices,” said Andes. “We want to be a destination not only for date night but for families as well.”

Celebrating birthdays have become so popular at their other locations; they’ve built a dedicated party room in Marquette. Birthdays at the theatre include a tour of the facility and a strip of 35mm film.

“You bring the cake and we’ll provide the concessions,” says Andes. “The party room is also available for corporate meetings and events.”
