Energy grants work
To the Journal editor:
This has been a very long, cold winter. Many folks found that their energy bills were overwhelming. Families would not have been able to have a warm, safe place to live if it weren’t for the Michigan Energy Assistance Program grant through Superior Watershed Partnership. The $1 million grant started in December and ran through the third week in April when all funds were used up. By collaborating with you on the MEAP grant, hundreds of families in the Upper Peninsula have been helped.
Your dedicated and professional staff assisted the St. Vincent de Paul volunteers in completing grants for families struggling with huge utility bills or deliverable fuel expenses.
The families who received free home energy audits from the SWP, expressed their appreciation for helping them with ways to reduce their energy consumption and lower their bills.
We also want to recognize AMCAB and other Community Action Boards for partnering with St. Vincent de Paul to provide energy assistance in communities throughout the U.P.
We hope to work with you on future energy grant programs.
