Local author to sign books
MARQUETTE – Jim Lajoe, author of “Hi Mom It’s Me,” a non-fiction book depicting a son’s painful journey watching his mom battle Alzheimer’s disease, will be selling and signing copies of his book at Doncker’s in downtown Marquette from 1-3 p.m. Saturday.
All those who purchase a book will be given a complimentary red rose and Doncker’s signature chocolate (sea salt caramels) in recognition of Mother’s Day and in memory of the author’s mother.
“Hi Mom. It’s Me” tells the story of how LaJoie dealt with his mom’s journey from early dementia to Alzheimer’s disease.
A good portion of the book is filled with chapters depicting the many life lessons he learned in four decades he had with his mother.
The book is $10, but those purchasing three books will receive a special price of $25. Twenty-five percent of each book sold will be gifted back to the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association to go toward education and advocacy.
