Police investigate break-in, theft at Bayou Bar and Grill
MARQUETTE – Police are searching for a suspect who broke into the Bayou Bar and Grill in Chocolay Township early today, fleeing the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.
Michigan State Police troopers from the post in Negaunee Township responded to a reported breaking and entering in progress at the bar and grill, which is located at 200 W. Main St.
Police said a 911 call was received by Central Dispatch operators at 3:50 a.m. from a cleaning and maintenance worker who, upon reporting for work, discovered an unknown male subject inside the business.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Two K-9 tracking units – one from the 8th District Hometown Security Team and another from the Marquette City Police – were unable to establish a positive track of the suspect.
Police said the suspect gained entry to the business by forcing open a door. A state police evidence technician processed the scene for forensic physical evidence. Troopers cleared the scene at 9:15 a.m.
