Prep golf: Manistique sweeps home meet at Indian Lake

MANISTIQUE – Westwood sophomore Connor Mason shot 40 to earn boys medalist honors at the Manistique Invitational high school golf meet held at Indian Lake Golf Club on Monday.

Mason helped his team come in just three strokes behind team winner and host Manistique, which had 186, tying for second in the three-team meet with Menominee.

On the girls side, the Emeralds’ Hailey Hoholik shot 54 for medalist honors, three strokes better than teammate Rachel Ryan as Manistique posted a 254 total to beat out Menominee by four strokes and Westwood by a dozen.

Mason’s round was three strokes better than the 43 posted by Manistique’s Dennis Boyd III, but the Emeralds had all four of their scorers shoot 50 or better. Teammate Alex Anderson added 44.

Westwood second-best score was posted by junior Trevor Burke with 46, while junior Michael Farley added 47.

Freshman Lauren Farley paced Westwood with 61, while freshman Rylee Perry and junior Tia Platteborze added 64s.
