NMU track: Stewart named GLIAC Female Field Athlete of the Year

GENEVA, Ohio – Northern Michigan University senior Cheyenne Stewart continued her stellar senior campaign by winning the triple jump at the GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.

After winning both the long jump on Thursday along with the triple jump, Stewart was named the GLIAC Female Field Athlete of the Year.

The Wildcats finished seventh out of 15 teams with 45 points. Grand Valley won with 185.5 points.

Stewart leaped 40 feet, 9 inches in the triple jump.

Junior teammate Christina Toogood won the 1,500-meter run in 4 minutes, 31.54 seconds and was third in the 800 in 2:11.94.

Junior Brittni Wirtz came in sixth in the 100 dash in 12.41 seconds, while sophomore Avadon James was seventh in 12.44. James added an eighth-place finish in the 200 in 25.41.

Freshman Jasmine Williams finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 148-11 while freshman Samanthia Johnson placed 12th with 133-5.
