NMU track: Stewart leads Wildcats on Day 2 of GLIAC Championships
GENEVA, Ohio – Northern Michigan University senior Cheyene Stewart won the long jump on Thursday to lead the Wildcats on the second day of the GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
Cheyenne’s jump of 5.91 meters was the lone victory of the day for Northern. It also broke an NMU record.
NMU junior Christina Toogood took third in the 800-meter run and fourth in the 1,500 to qualify for the finals in both races. Junior Larissa Halonen also qualified for the finals in the 1,500 by finishing in 11th in the preliminaries.
Junior Brittni Wirtz took sixth in the 100-meter dash and freshman Avadon James was finished eighth to also qualify for today’s finals. James also qualified in the 200, finishing in eighth.
Junior Olivia Howard set an NMU school record in the 10-kilometer run with a time of 37 minutes, 55.94 seconds. She finished in 13th place.
