Sara Jane ‘Sez’ Enright
MARQUETTE, MI. – Sara Jane “Sez” Enright, 81, of Marquette, entered eternal life at home in the loving care of her family and Upper Peninsula Hospice on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
Sara was born on July 21, 1932 in Marquette and on June 15, 1951, she was married to Leo M. “Mick” Enright.
Sez was employed by Bell Telephone, Wallace Nurses’ Residence, bookkeeper for E&S Plumbing and Heating, and worked in the Marquette High School attendance office much to the chagrin of her youngest son, who was a senior at the time. After retirement, Mick and Sez chose to reside in Punta Gorda, Florida where they resided until Mick’s passing on December 18, 2002. While deciding whether to stay in Florida or move back to Marquette, her decision was made for her when her home was destroyed by Hurricane Charlie in 2004. She lived the rest of her life with her family in Marquette, which turned out to be a blessing for her and her family.
Her family was the joy of her life along with many special life-long friends. She loved spending time at Presbytery Point, family picnics at the island, and had a tremendous passion for music which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She and Mick were very active members in the Elks, both in Marquette and Punta Gorda. She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marquette, which she loved so dearly.
Sara is survived by her sons, Steve (Patti) Enright, Gary Enright, Jim (Cathy) Enright, all of Marquette, and Mick (Linda Bryant) Enright of Saginaw; her grandchildren, Hannah (Neil Alper) Enright, Charlie (Kathy) Enright, Amanda Wilcox, Ali (Chris) Stenson, Lyndsay (Boomer Myers) Enright, Joey (Kaylee Hassel) Enright, Leah (Brad Meyers) Enright, and Jacqueline Enright. Sara is also survived by former daughters-in-law, Debbie LaJeunesse, Paula Enright, Jill Bruno and Sandy Nadeau. Sara also has several great grandchildren whom she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lew and Amybell Armstrong; her husband, Leo (Mick) Enright in 2002 and her son, Tom Enright in 2013.
A celebration of Sara’s life will take place on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 120 N. Front St., Marquette, with the Rev. Nicholas Cammarata presiding.
The Enright family will greet relatives and friends at the church from noon until the time of the service. The family will be meeting privately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, Sara expressed that donations be made in her name, to Presbytery Point through the First Presbyterian Church, 120 N. Front St., Marquette, MI 49855. The family would like to thank the staff of Upper Peninsula Hospice, Wright & Filippis, her physician Dr. Art Saari, her care givers at Marquette General Hospital, and especially her personal care giver, Kelly Slattery.
