MSHS seniors Lackey, Belton honored by Kiwanis
MARQUETTE – Anthony Lackey and Noelani Belton of Marquette Senior High School have been named the Superiorland Kiwanis Club’s male and female athletes of the month, respectively, for February.
A member of the MSHS swimming and diving team, Lackey is a senior who won both the 50 and 100 freestyle events at the Upper Peninsula Finals. His effort helped the Redmen take the peninsula title.
In addition to swimming, Lackey served as captain of the U.P. champion varsity soccer team, for which he played goalie.
He’s a member of the Jazz Band at MSHS, the pit orchestra and the Astronomy Club.
Lackey carries a 4.14 GPA and has earned both an Excellence in Education award and Kaufman scholarship for his academic success.
Lackey has donated his time to National Honor Society volunteer opportunities and at the First United Methodist Church in Marquette.
He plans to attend Michigan Technological University to study Electrical Engineering.
He’s the son of Marisa and Robert Lackey.
Belton is a senior at MSHS who has been a member of the Redettes swimming and diving team for two years since moving to Marquette from Illinois.
She earned All-U.P. honors this season and helped the MSHS girls earn the peninsula championship.
Belton was a member of the varsity softball team last season and was the trumpet section leader for the MSHS Marching Band last fall.
She has been on the school’s honor roll and maintains a 3.3 GPA.
Donating art work to charity fundraisers are a few of her community contributions.
After graduation, she plans to attend Northern Michigan University to pursue a degree in Art and Design.
Her parents are Robert and Frannie Belton.
