Spring ritual coming

To the Journal editor:

It has been 36 years since we as citizens of Marquette put on our work-in-the-yard blue jeans and grabbed a pair of gloves to “clean up the town” for the first time!

This annual event would not happen without the enthusiastic support of the city and our sponsors, Heritage Motors and McDonalds.

It has continued to make a difference throughout the whole summer because we all then feel ownership in our beautiful clean city.

With this in mind on behalf of the Marquette Beautification and Restoration Committee, Inc., I encourage all residents of Marquette to participate in the 36th Annual Spring Clean Up Our target date for this year will be May 3.

Over 40 individuals, groups, and service clubs have already been assigned to remove litter from public spaces within the city limits. Their efforts will make a huge difference in the appearance of our city.

We encourage everyone to rake, repair and tidy up their property. Adding flowers will really brighten up your space.

Thank you for your cooperation over the years. It may seem like a “little thing” to do but it makes a huge difference when we work together.

Won’t you help make this 36th year a resounding success?
